Noted as a Norman font in the Handbook for travellers… (1869). Wilson's Gazetteer (1870-1872) reports a Norman font in this church. Wade & Wade (1929) note the "late Norm[an] or E[arly] E[nglish] [...] fine font, with its variety of mouldings". Described in Pevsner (1958): "Probably C13, an odd design with thin blank pointed arcading and a fluted underside." The font consists of a quadrangular basin with rounded angles and underbowl; the sides are decorated with a blind arcade of pointed arches, with supports only on every other arch; the underbowl is ribbed all around; the base consists of a short cylindrical stem and a round lower base with graded moulding. The wooden cover is pyramidal polygonal with colourful decorations; it appears old.
