Font Notes:
Wade & Wade (1929) write: "The church [...] is not of great interest, but contains a stoup, a piscina, and a Norm[an] font" [NB: there is no indication of the age of the stoup, but it is presumably medieval]. The font shown in the Blackdown Benefice web page for Otterford St. Leonard's [http://www.blackdown.org.uk/ott/flower_show.shtml] [accessed 2 April 2008] consists of an octagonal basin decorated with large quatrefoil panels, with a tall chamfer decorated with a variety of motifs, including at least one blank shield, raised on an octagonal pedestal base decorated with trefoil arches or windows. It appears medieval, but certainly not Norman [Was/Is there an earlier font?]. A recent [2008] photograph of this font by Phil Draper can be found at [http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/SOM/Otterford/StLeonard2.html] [accessed 2 April 2008]
