There is an entry for Kewstoke [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST3363/kewstoke/] [accessed 21 December 2015], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Lewis (1833) writes: "The church is in the later style of English architecture, with Norman portions." Wade & Wade (1929) report a font, perhaps of the Early English period, in this church. Described in Pevsner (1958): "Circular with an octagonal bowl like a moulded capital and a base like that on an arcade pier. Most probably C14." The font consists of an octagonal with plain side and a graded underbowl chamfer, raised on a cylindrical stem with a roll moulding at the upper end, a moulded lower base and an octagonal modern plinth; the basin is lead lined. The upper side of the basin shows repairs with inset stone. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat.
