Drawing of a font in the Harvey Pridham Drawings of English Fonts (MS 56). [Folder Number, Item Description]. University of Colorado at Boulder Libraries. Special Collections Dept., done by Harvey Pridham in August 1888 accompanied by the following description: "Irregular circular bowl, moldings under, stem, and roll-mold below: under this the chamfered foot and plinth are square, - and the last named modern. Circular bowl inside, with heavy lead lining turned over outside edge and down face 1 5/8 inch. Sides within follow curve of outside; the planes flat. Depth 9 3/4, and margin 3 1/2. Flat modern cover. Position, centre Nave Walk near West end." Wade & Wade (1929) reported "a circular Norm[an] font" in this church. Not mentioned in Pevsner (1958). The Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 7, 1999) informs: "The church of St. Peter, destroyed by fire on 27 November 1964, [...] The 13th-century capitals and columns of the chancel arch and the contemporary font were destroyed in the fire."
