No entry found for South Brewham / Brewham in the Domesday survey. The church plan illustrated in Phelps (1836) shows the font located below the tower, but there is no mention of the font in the text of the entry. Wade & Wade (1929) report an old font in the churchyard. The entry for the parish of Brewham in the Victoria County History (Somerset, vol. 7, 1999) notes: "By the mid 13th century there was a chapel at Brewham dependent on Bruton priory church [...] The church was extensively restored in the 19th century when all the windows were renewed. Those in the chancel are of late 13th-century character. The south doorway is an assemblage of 12th and 13th-century material, perhaps installed at the restoration [...] The two fonts are of the 14th century and the 19th, the former said to have come from Bruton to replace a wooden one" [the fn (51) to this VCH entry reads: "But was disliked and left in churchyard: S.D.N.Q. v. 155-6; S.R.O., D/D/Va 1843; B.L. Add. MS. 36379, f. 171 [1845]"]. [NB: cf. Index entry for Bruton]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST7196436143] reports: "Nave has a C16 octagonal font with quatrefoil panels and sturdy moulded and panelled stem [...] in the South aisle an old octagonal tub font, possibly of C13, without a base"; the entry does not mention a stoup in it.
