Kelly's Directory of 1883 reports "an old Transition font" in this church. Wade & Wade (1929) report that the small church at Biddisham "retains a square Norm[an], font". Described in Pevsner (1958): "Square, Norman, with three scallops on the underside." The font is described and illustrated in Phil Draper's site [http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genuki/SOM/Biddisham/StJohn2.html] [accessed 2 March 2008]: "Interesting Norman font, the square bowl may not be original but the rest is with rather ornate but rustic patterning above the scalloping".
