INFORMATION

Object Type: Baptismal Font1?
Church/Chapel: [not in a church]
Country Name: United States
Font Location in Church: [cf. FontNotes]
Font Notes:
Reported by Michele and Ben Ayala, in the Southwest, United States: "the font assembles in a quadrangular shape. My husband, Ben, has seen the font fully assembled at the previous owners residence. He said there was no liner or mortar. The weight of the font keeps itself together. Apparently the font fully assembled weighs anywhere from 500-1000 lbs. [...] the previous owner, who considered himself an "Egyptologist") he may have brought this over from Greece. This is a faint memory so he is not exactly sure. The previous owner did a lot of travel and had in his possession many religious articles from Egypt and other parts of the world." [NB: with only the photographs of the dis-assembled object as source, and the previous notes from received e-mails, it is difficult to get a sense of what it looks like as a finished product -- there is a platform with a double basin, one with a drain one without (or blocked?), akin to the late 16th-century fonts of northeastern France] -- to be added on as info is sent from the source
