No individual entry for Littledean found in the Domesday survey. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 5, 1996) notes: "Architectural evidence shows that Littledean had its own church or chapel by the later 12th century [...] The font has an octagonal bowl probably of medieval date", but in a footnote it has: "The bowl is ascribed to the 18th cent. in Trans. B.G.A.S. xlix. 130; Verey, Glos. ii. 288." Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) note: "Font. Octagonal bowl, with trefoil-headed panels, probably C19. The stem is C17, the plinth possibly medieval." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SO6721513580] notes: "Parish Church. C12, C14 and C15 [...] Octagonal stone font, probably medieval, on later stem; trefoil headed blind arches to sides of bowl." [NB: we have no information on the earlier font of this church]
