There is an entry for Westonbirt [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/ST8689/westonbirt/] [accessed 24 May 2016], but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) write: "Font, under the tower. Rather thin. Perp[endicular] octagonal bowl with quatrefoils on each face; panelled stem." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: ST8636889525] notes: "Small Anglican church. Foundation by C12, with some C12 work probably remaining in south nave wall; chancel altered C13, tower added by C14 and raised probably in C15; chancel rebuilt 1841 and lengthened by one bay in 1879; north east corner of aisle and south east vestry added 1955. [...] Base of tower used as Baptistery with squint through tower arch to chancel and Perpendicular octagonal font with quatrefoil panelling."
