There are three entries for this Barton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TL4055/barton/] [accessed 16 May 2016], none of which mention cleric or church in it. Paley's Guide (1844) notes: "There is a water-stoup at the side of the south door, within the nave". The RCHM (Cambridgeshire, 1968): "In the nave, immediately E[ast] of S[outh] door, consisting of a mutilated bowl in a recess with a two-centred head; probably c. 1300".
