Church Notes: present church mid-16thC; restored mid-19thC -- there is another Misterton St Leonard in Somerset, listed in BSI with an ancient font
There are three entries for this Misterton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP5583/misterton/] [accessed 14 February 2018], none of which reports cleric or church in it. A font here is noted and illustrated in Upcott (1818). The entry for this church in the British Listed Buildings site [Listing NGR: SP5570283990] reports: "C19 octagonal drum font on octagonal plinth." The present font in Misterton St. Leonard's is a 19th-century replacement after Upcott's visit of ca. 1818; according to the same source [BLB entry above] the restoration of this church was carried out by William Smith in 1863; we have no information on the whereabouts of the old font.
