There is an entry for Skeffington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SK7402/skeffington/] [accessed 24 August 2015]; it mentions a priest, but not a church in it, through there probably was one here . Nichols (1795- ) reports an octagonal font here. Upcott (1818) lists an illustration of the font in this church: "lxv. Monuments, Font, and Piscina in Skeffington Church." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SK7414302632] (1966) reports: "Church. Parts of fabric are late C13, but it was almost entirely rebuilt in 1860, adopting the style of the original building, late Decorated and Perpendicular. [...] Victorian font: octagonal bowl and base, with emblems of evangelists on the panels, and ornate wood pyramidal cover."
