The parish register records the use of a 'bason', probably meaning a metal basin which was inserted in the font, like a liner, and actually used to hold the holy water: "In 1694-5 is a note concerning the font. 'Thomas the son of Jonathan Waite & Alice his wife was baptised February the 14th (being then - months old and his mother then churched and was the first baptized in the bason provided by Daniel Walton to be set in the Font as an Apppurtenance thereunto'" [source: http://www.jillsfamilyancestry.co.uk/Part_2_Millhou/Parish_and_Pla.html [accessed 24 September 2007].
