Font Notes:
There are four entries for [Long] Clawson [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK7227/long-clawson/] [accessed 23 September 2020] none of which mentions priest or church in it. Noted and illustrated in Upcott (1818) as an "Octagular Font". The font is probably 14th-century, the date of the second church. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK7221827188] notes: "Church. C14 and C15 with earlier origins. Chancel and transepts largely rebuilt and church extensively restored 1893. [...] Octagonal font with blank tracery to stem, shields in quatrefoils to bowl and leaf carvings to angles of underside of bowl." [NB: the original church is said to have been Norman, but we have no information on the original font of that church].
