The entry for this Horsley [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/ST8397/horsley/] [accessed 19 February 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 11, 1976) notes: "A church had been built at Horsley by 1105 [...] The medieval church, rebuilt except for the tower in 1839 [...] In 1887 the church was restored and some internal fittings replaced. [...] The registers begin in 1590"; no font is mentioned in the VCH entry. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. C19 Perp[endicular], probably by Hussey" [i.e., Richard Charles Hussey (1801-1887), Victorian architect]. Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin raised on an octagonal pedestal base; the basin has pointed quatrefoil panels on the sides, and a crown-like pattern all around the upper rim; the pedestal of the base is moulded. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with a large cross finial/handle. [NB: we have no information on the medieval baptismal font(s) of this church].
