The Victoria County History (Gloucestershire, vol. 6, 1965) notes: "In 1086 the tenants at Barrington of Walter son of Roger included a priest [...] Part of the 12th-century fabric of the church survives in the wide chancel arch [...] The carved octagonal bowl of the 15th-century font is similar to those at Windrush and Oddington." Noted in Verey and Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Restored C15, with an octagonal bowl on a panelled stem." Baptismal font of Perpendicular design, the sides of the basin with the characteristic quatrefoil panels inscrbing a floral motif, but, the florettes of the underbowl are a tell-tale of Victorian restoration; wooden cover, octagonal and flat, with metal decoration and ring handle. On a multi-step plinth. [NB: the original fabric of the church goes back to Norman times, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church].
