Font Notes:
Noted in http://www.evl.fi/srk/muhos/Church_2.htm] [accessed 31 July 2007]: "The [wooden] church of Muhos was completed in 1634. It is the third church in the parish. According to tradition the first church was located in Kirkkosaari and the second at Kirkkoniemi, nearer to the shore than the present church. The present church is the oldest wooden church in Finland, which has been preserved almost in its original shape. It is built in the form of a rectangular basilica, a so called buttress church. Torninrakentaja-Hannu (Hannu the Tower Builder) is regarded as the builder of the church [...] The base of the font dates from the middle of the 19th century. It is decorated with eight sculptures of angels heads. The tin basin dates from the year 1707". [NB: we have no information on the earlier stand or font in this church].
