Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated with quatrefoil-in-a-circle panels, raised on a plain octagonal pedestal base and a moulded lower base, also octagonal. Wooden cover, octagonal and flat, with metal decoration and handle. The whole is raised on a round plinth with kneeling stone. The font is either 15th-century, or a 19th-century imitation of the typical Perpendicular design. [NB: the church of St. Nicholas in Chadlington was originally Norman, but we have no information on the original font of this church -- Lewis' Dictionary of 1831 has a separate entry for East Chadlington that mentions a "chapel dedicated to St. Mary. Lewis' edition of 1848 expands the entry to read: "The chapel, dedicated to St. Mary, is a beautiful structure in the early English style", but there is no mention of a font in either entry].
