There is an entry for Quenington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SP1404/quenington/] [accessed 24 January 2019]; it mentions a priest but not a church in it, though there must have been one there. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vo. 7, 1981) notes: "The church at Quenington was presumably served by the priest recorded there in 1086 [...] The church, which was called St. Mary's in the 12th century, [...] was dedicated to ST. SWITHIN by 1735 [...] but it bore an invocation to the Holy Rood in the 18th and early 19th centuries. [...] The font, which is of the later 16th century, has a hood dated 1662". The entry for this church in English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP1483703912] notes: "Anglican parish church. Recorded by 1100, chancel windows of C13 and C15, nave windows probably early C17. Restored 1882. [...] Late C16 font with cover of 1662." Verey & Brooks (1999-2002) write: "Font. Post-Reformation, probably late C16. Plain octagonal bowl perpetuating the traditional Gothic shape, but with all carving and ornament omitted. The restored cover is 1662." Baptismal font consisting of a plain octagonal basin with pronounced chamfer on the underbowl, raised on an octagonal stem that is plain but for a moulding at each end; quadrangular lower base; octagonal plinth. The wooden cover is octagonal and flat, with metal reinforcements and ring handle; it appears to have been re-built from an original, if the date on it, 1662, is original. [NB: the church has two Norman portals, but we have no information on the iriginal font of this church].
