The modern font here is noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "octagonal font […] carved by Frith" [i.e., Henry Frith, who carved also other parts of the decoration]. Baptismal font of a late date consisting of an octagonal basin with an indented upper rim decorated with leaf and floral motifs; the sides of the basin have low-relief carvings, some floral but one is an angel holding a scroll [is it the symbol of one of the four Evangelists?]; graded underbowl chamfer and Ogee-type arches below, on the octagonal stem; moulded lower base. Wooden font cover, octagonal and flat; modern. [NB: the church building goes back at least to the 15th century, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church]
