Noted and illustrated in Billett (2006): "Alice Gibbon's two sons presented the wooden font in memory of her in 1933; it is octagonal and copper lined." The font, designed much like a stone model, consists of an octagonal basin raised on a stem made up of a broad central shaft and eight slender colonnettes; the lower base is octagonal and moulded. The wooden cover is octagonal and almost flat, with a knob handle. The front panel of the basin is decorated with a Latin cross. [NB: although excluded from the scope of this Index by its late date, this font is included here as an example of the use of wood in modern fonts]
