Described and illustrated in the CRSBI (2008): "The working font is positioned under the tower arch, but there are remains of a 12thc. Font [...]. Four pieces of a carved font bowl roughly assembled with rubble and mortar for consolidation [...]" The CRSBI describes also the decorative elements on the fragments: reeding, sawtooth with an unusual spiral triangle, Greek key, etc., and suggests the fonts at Bradley (Staffs) and Lilleshall (Salop) as being of similar design: "The workshop apparently came from Gnosall, where the unusual spiral triangle sawtooth motif can be seen on a stringcourse, and similar chip-carvings on imposts. This sugests a date of c. 1100 or slightly afterwards for the Church Eaton font".
