No individual entry for English Bicknor found in the Domesday survey. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 5, 1996) notes: "English Bicknor church, which stands in the outer bailey of a Norman castle, [...] dates from the 12th century. [...] It was recorded from 1221 when, during the minority of the lord of Bicknor, the Crown presented to it [...] The Norman font is plain and tub-shaped" [the VCH footnotes: "Trans. B.G.A.S., xlix, 133, 153"]. Noted in Verey & Brooks (1999-2002): "Font. Scraped circular Norman tub on a hardly less slim stem." The entry for this church in the CRSBI (2018) notes: "The font may also be a product of the 12thc, but without any sculpted decoration it is impossible to be sure. [...] A plain cylindrical font that sharply tapers at the centre. It has an octagonal base and rests on a circular plinth. The main body of the font has an exceptionally smooth finish in comparison to the base and plinth, which could be a sign that it was reworked at a later date." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SO5812915812] reports a stone stoup in the north transept, and a plain circular font in the south aisle. The plain tub font appears to have been re-cut or re-tooled; there is repaired damage to the upper rim area.
