There are three entries dor Withern [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF4282/withern/] [accessed 7 November 2019] one of which reports a priest and a church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. An important piece, vanvalized by the church authorities, who had it converted into a sundial and placed in the churchyard. It should be restored and placed under cover before it is too late. It is C14, octagonal, and a pattern-book of window designs, mostly Dec[orated], but also one Perp[endicular]." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF4246782173] notes; "Parish church, now closed. C15, 1812 rebuilding, 1875 restoration.
