There are three entries for Toynton [variant spelling] in the Domesday Survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/XX0000/toynton-all-saints-and-st-peter/] [accessed 14 April 2017], two of which report a church in each. Besides the font with heraldic divices [entered in this Index as Toynton St. Peter's No. 1] Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note also: "Cross, W of the tower. The base is the bowl of a square font." The square (?) object appears to be upside down and has motifs (?) at the corners.
