There are two entries for this Thurlby [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK9061/thurlby/] [accessed 20 January 2019] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) write: "Font. The normal octagonal Perp[endicular] type, but treated extremely lavishly. Against the bowl three diagonal leaves, three equally bold flowers, one different leaf, and a small figure with outsetretched arms growing Daphne-like into a tree." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK9089561713] notes: "Parish church. 11C, 13C, 15C and 19C. [...] plain Norman doorway pre 1200 [...] Fine 15C octagonal font."
