There is an entry for Stainton [-by-Langworth] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF0677/stainton-by-langworth/] [accessed 19 December 2019] but it mentions neither claric nor church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Octagonal, very large, the base with spurs. C14." The enrty for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF0619277560] notes: "Parish church. 1795 but incorporating C14 materails, with restoration of 1885. [...] The large C14 octagonal font bowl has ball flowers to the underside, the stem is missing and it now rests on its base."
