There are three entries for Snelland [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF0780/snelland/] [accessed 19 May 2019] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) write: "Font. No doubt also of c. 1863, as it is identical with that at Cold Hanworth". [NB: the 1863 reference in Pevsner & al. is to the restoration of this church by Edward Browning -- the original church dates back at least to the 13th century, but we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church] [the font at Cold Hanworth is not listed in this Index because of its late date]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF0794580688] notes: "Parish church. C13, C14, 1863 restoration and rebuilding [...] remarkable font which stands on 3 annular shafts with collarsand has elaborate carved foliage to the octagonal bowl."
