There is an entry for Norton [Disney] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK8859/norton-disney/] [accessed 31 December 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], with simple lozenge-shaped panels with shields." [NB: Lewis' Dictionary of 1848 gives the dedication as All Saints, whereas Pevsner & al. have St. Peter]. The present font consists of an octagonal basin with blank shields inscribed in cusped quatrefoils on the sides; octagonal pedestal base with mouldings at top and bottom; square lower base.
