Noted in Parker (1855) as an octagonal font of the Decorated period, "with foliage in the panels of the bowl". Knott (2008) describes the font as "one of the best in the East Anglian style". Baptismal font consisting of an octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated with four angels and perhaps the four symbols of the Evangelists in a modern, comic-book style; the angels appear to hold symbols of the Instruments of the Passion; the underbowl is decorated with angel heads in the same style; it is unclear when these images were carved, or re-carved as the case may be, since the basin appears to be worn enough in some areas to rate a medieval claim at first sight; the base, on the other hand, appears original, with sedente lions alternating with buttresses around the stem; the lower base is octagonal and moulded. On an octagonal plinth. [NB: could Parker have missed the figural ornamentation on the basin? Was the basin re-carved or replaced after his visit?]
