There are three entries for Holton [-le-Moor] [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF0897/holton-le-moor/] [accessed 25 November 2018] none of which mentions a church in it, though one was in the lordship of "Enwin (the priest)". Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. 1926, incorporating cable-moulding contemporary with the S door" [NB: Pevsner & al. (ibid.) date the door as "late Saxon or early Norman, widened in 1854"]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF0821297820] notes: "Parish Church, Cll, C13, 1854 restoration and rebuilding by George Place; 1926 alteration and addition by H.G. Gamble, unfinished [... ]n the west end of the south aisle is a C13 capital inverted and set into the wall, used originally as a font. The hexagonal font is now a C20 reconstruction using some C12 fragments of a circular tub with cable moulding round the top."
