There is an entry for [Gate] Burton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SK8383/gate-burton/] [accessed 25 December 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Norman, drum-shaped. Arcading with segmental arches. In it flowers or faces." [NB: this is a Victorian church dating from 1866, but the Norman font is probably from the original church on this site]. The entry for the re-built church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK8389082899] notes: "Parish church. 1866. [...] C12 drum font with beaded arcading containing large flower heads and human heads." [NB: one source [cf. Index entry for Middle Rasen] claims a Norman font from this church was moved to Middle Rasen [cf. Index entry] -- e-mail sent to the parish contact to ask for elucidation and photograph if possible (25 December 2018)].
