Font Notes:
There is an entry for [East] Kirkby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF3362/east-kirkby/] [accessed 14 July 2019] and it mentions two churches in it. A 'note' by G. Maughan in the Lincolnshire Notes and Queries, vol. 6 (Horncastle, 1898: 49-51) has: "Antiquarians have much admired [...] its finely carved octagonal font". Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular], of white stone and re-cut. Leaves and heads in odd cusped fields (cf. the chimneypieces at Tattershall Castle)." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF3327863042] notes: "Parish church. C13, C14, C16, extensively restored C19 and 1904- 6. [...] Heavily restored font the pedestal and bowl decorated with cusped tracery and further decoration to bowl of carved heads and foliate."
