There is an entry for this Doddington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SK9069/doddington/] [accessed 14 April 2016]; it mentions a priest and a church in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. E[arly] E[nglish], tub-shaped, with, along the top part, a wide band of simple, diagonally placed stiff-leaf." The old basin stands on a cylindrical base decorated with graded mouldings at the top, and a band of rosettes inscribed in quatrefoils all around the sides; in the Perpendicular style, but probably Victorian. A flimsy round and plain cover is on the font.
