There are seven entries for this Claxby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF1194/claxby/] [accessed 27 December 2018], one of which, under the chief tenancy of Ivo Tallboys in 1086, reports two churches in it. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) inform that many of the furnishings in this church, including the font, are by James Fowler, from his restoration of 1871. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF1112494585] notes: "Parish Church; C13, C15, C16, 1871 restoration by James Fowler of Louth [...] The fittings, stone pulpit, oak screen and font are all from the C19 restoration." [NB: although the fabric of the building goes back to the 13th century, we have no information on the earlier font(s) of this church].
