No individual entry for Castle Bythem found in the Domesday survey [NB: there are four entries for Little Bytham in the survey, one of which reports a church in it]. Pevsner, Harris and Antram (1989) note: "Font. Octagonal. Patterns in flat raised bands, a star, IHS, etc. Is it 1660s?" The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SK9885818348] notes: "Parish church. Late C12, C13, C14, C15, C17, 1774, C19, c.1900. [...] Early C17 octagonal font with panelled sides containing abstract decoration, a stepped cross and the Sacred Monogram." The same entry reports a "C10 Saxon cross shaft with cable moulded angles, floral decoration to the sides and interlace to the panels" here.
