The Dinas Powys, Sully and Wenvoe Group of Churches web site [www.dinaspowyssullyandwenvoe.church/stjohnthebaptist.html] [accessed 1 July 2017] notes: "There are two fonts in the church. The large ornately carved goblet shaped stone font and the smaller wooden font in the corner behind. This dates from about the 16th century and is shaped like a ships capstan. It is thought to have been carved from a single tree trunk." The font is octagonal with an angel on each side; the angels are crowned and each holds a a different object [cross, bishop's mitre, etc.]; floral and/or foliage decoration all over; octagonal moulded lower base.
