There are two entries for Harpham [variant spelling] in the Domesday Survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/TA0961/harpham/] [accessed 27 July 2014], but neither mentions a church or priest, other than Erwin the priest, who was lord and tenant-in-chief in both 1066 and 1086. Betjeman (1958) notes that this church has a Norman core but was "completely remodelled in the 14th century". The present font is probably of the 19th century, consisting of and octagonal basin with vertical sides raised on an octagonal stem and moulded lower base of the same shape; the upper basin has a running inscription between two mouldings; the main decoration on the basin sides are large quatrefoils inscribed in circles, at least one of which has a blank shiled in it; the stem has round mouldings at either end and, in between, a blank arcade of trefoil-headed arches [NB: we have no information on the earlier fonts of this church].
