Described and illustrated in the Llanfaelog St Maelog's web site [www.stmaelog.org.uk] [accessed 3 January 2007]: "The original 12th century font was removed for safekeeping when the church was made redundant, and, with the permission of the Ancient Monuments Society, is now housed in the parish church, St. Maelog's, Llanfaelog. On the south side of the nave is a 15th century octagonal gritstone font with roll moulding at the base, set on an octagonal stem with necking". The photograph shows a quadrangular basin, with what appears to be star-shaped incised motif on the visible side; the upper rim shows two indentations which would be consistent with font cover hardware, and there is also a groove all along the rim that might have been made to fit a square cover; it is now mounted on a tree-like structure described in this source as a "21st century woodwork by Colin Pearce".
