Font Notes:
Noted and illustrated in Thurlby (2006) who remarks on the similarity of the decorative bosses inscribed in each of the eleven arches with the "wall bosses used by Bishop Roger's masons at Sarum cathedral and the motif was taken up in Cormac's Chapel before 1134. Given the associations of aspects of the sculpture at Heneglwys with the work of Bishop Roger, it seems reasonable suggest that the inspiration for the bosses on the Llanbadrig font may have been taken from the work of the great English patron." The cylindrical basin was furnished with a totally ill-matched octagonal pedestal base in one of the several restorations of the church. A fire, blamed on vandalism, destroyed part of the church in the 1980s but appears not to have damaged the font.
