Lewis' Dictionary of 1849 notes the presence of a font in the Norman church of Meivod, but gives no information on it. The font, illustrated in its context in Thurlby (2006), appears to be an octagonal design throughout: basin stem, lower base and plinth, perhaps of the 1620s, to judge by the general design and the presence of what appears to be lettering on the basin panels, dating probably from one of the re-buildings of this church; the font appears damaged [NB: we have no information on the origianl font(s) of this church]
