Romanesque baptismal font illustrated in Bau- und Kunstdenkmale in der DDR Mecklenburgische Künstenregion (1990). Noted in Thurlby (2006), who points out that the appearence of the imbrication motif on fonts "speaks clearly of the iconographic connection between death and resurrection and their simulation in Baptism". The basptismal font consists of a hemispherical basin decorated with four parallel bands of scalloped motif, the underbowl plain; raised on a base made up of a cluster of several [six?] standing praying figures, male and female, one of them with a child wrapped or held in the figure's arms [perhaps the Madonna and Child, or Abraham with a soul? the rest perhaps apostles or saints?]. [We are grateful to Marion Timmermann, Wolfram Hausberg and Ursula Schultz, of Vorsitzende des Fördervereins zur Erhaltung der Dorfkirche Lichtenhagen e.V., for the photographs of this font]
