Noted in Thurlby (2006) as one of a group of tub-shaped fonts in the area: Llanwenarth, Mitchell Troy, Pen-y-Clawdd and St Maughans: "the latter has a narrow ring at the waist and is roughly finished but traces of limewash on the bowl almost certainly reflect the original finish and possibly that the font was painted".
