Noted and illustrated in Upcott (1818). Described in Pevsner (1984): "Font. Square, with raised angle strips. Four original corner shafts with coarse C13 detail." The Leicestershire Parish Councils site [www.hobywithrotherbypc.org.uk] notes "the curious aquare font (this has four different legs and stands on a marble slab with Latin engravings, which possibly outdes the church building)".
