No individual entry for Stannington found in the Domesday survey. Modern baptismal font, probably of the 20th century, consisting of an octagonal basin that is plain on seven sides but has a scene [appears to be Jesus with the children] on the front side, raised on slender octagonal stem and an octagonal lower base. The church itself dates from 1830, and there is no record of an earlier church on this site; there may have been an earlier font here from the original 19th-century fabric.
