Font Notes:
There is an entry for Newton [Harcourt] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SP6397/newton-harcourt/] [accessed 19 August 2015]; it mentions a priest, but not a church in it, though there probably was one here. A font in this church is noted in Pevsner (1984): Font. Small, rustic piece of 1777." Noted and illustrated in Leicestershire Churches [www.leicestershirechurches.co.uk/newton-harcourt-st-lukes/] [accessed 19 August 2015]: "The pulpit dates back to 1777, as does the reading desk and communion rails. At this time, the old font was demolished, and a small modern one introduced."
