Reported in Lewis' Dictionary of 1848: "The font is octagonal, and is a curious piece of workmanship". Described in Whellan (1849): " The font is very elegant: on the faces of the basin, which is octagonal, are the emblems of the blessed Trinity, a rose, and other ornaments." Noted in Mee (1945) as a 500-year-old medieval font "which has fleur-de-lys and other foliage on its eight sides". In Pevsner & Cherry (1973): "Octagonal, with square stem. On bowl and stem closely scattered individual leaves and flowers. Is this C15 work?"
