Nantwich appears in the Domesday survey as a settlement with no recorded population [https://opendomesday.org/place/SJ6552/nantwich/] [accessed 10 September 2022]. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SJ6521252325 ] notes: "Parish church [...] Dating from C14 the style is mainly decorated with some perpendicular of later date. Restored (except for tower) mid C19 by Sir Gilbert Scott"; it mentions no font in it. The present font is modern probably introduced by Scott in his mid-19 century renovation [cf. supra]. Octagonal baptismal font of the type with one single volume from top to bottom, the sides decorated with traceried panels, each containg a crocketed arch and pinnacles at the angles. [NB: we have no information on the original of the 14th-century church here].
