The Victoria County History (Northampton, vol. 4, 1937) notes: "No part of the existing fabric is older than the latter half of the 12th century. [...] The font has a circular basin of unusual form and has been called Norman. It was dug up in the churchyard and restored to the church in 1838, being placed on a modern pedestal." The same font is reported in the Pytchley Village web site [www.pytchley-village.co.uk/History/History.htm] [accessed 26 September, 2006] as "believed to be Norman." Also noted in 'A brief history of All Saints’ Church PYTCHLEY' [www.5churches.org.uk/additionalfiles/Pytchley Church History.pdf] [accessed 24 February 2012]: "The 12th century Font was found in the churchyard and put here in 1838 replacing a later font."
