There is an entry for this Foston [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SP6095/foston/] [accessed 29 August 2014], but it mentions neither church nor cleric in it. A font here is noted in Pevsner (1984): "Font. Plain, circular, stil on its four original legs and central shaft." English Heritage [Listing NGR: SP6033694997] (1957) notes: " Font is probably C12 or C13". The Foston Church web site [www.foston-church.org.uk] [accessed 21 September 2006] illustrates the font and states: "The font is from the same date as the south arcade (1300) [dated similarly in Pevsner above] and is of simple design, with five rectangular pillars."
